about gorinka
hailing from vishakhapatnam, India, gorinka is an accomplished vocal artiste. gorinka's escapade with music began at an early age when she trained with her mother, Smt. Aparna Hattangadi, who specialized in Rabindra Sangeet, a musical style developed by the epochal Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. She later learned the hindustani classical tradition from Smt. Sneha Ketkar. Presently, she is a student of the acclaimed ghazal maestro Sri. Vittal Rao of hyderabad.
her musical repertoire includes vocal music in english, hindi, telugu, and bengali in pop, classical, and indian styles.

what is a ghazal? a ghazal, in brief, is a poetry form consisting of a dozen couplets (or less) in the same meter. rules govern the rhythm of the ghazal, setting the mood and tone of the poem. originating in persia in the 10th century AD, the ghazal is usually (but not always) written in urdu.
